(My)self Admirers!

It's so irritating when people begin their introductions with "Myself xyz..."!! Why the hell cant they stick to plain and simple (and correct!) usage like "My name is xyz.." or "I am xyz.."??!!

I'm not very sure whether the usage of this reflexive pronoun in such a fashion is grammatically correct or incorrect, but it does sound grossly wrong to me! I'm sure I'm not the only one to feel so!

Of course it is horribly wrong. Saying 'Myself GreySith' is not even a sentence, there isn't a verb!

ah! should have struck me before!! happens many times - you're almost sure something sounds wrong, but can't figure out what!

It derives from the literal translation of the self introduction in almost all Indian languages.
Like "main Nishchay" or "mee Nishchay"
Its Indian English, not wrong in the relative sense. As wrong as "gonna" or "gotcha"

@falconer: "main Nishchay" can be thought of as a shortened "main Nishchay hoon", which translates, literally, to "I am Nishchay".
Also, "main" / "mee" in both languages = "I" in english, not "myself".
eg. "mee kheltoy" = "I am playing"; not "Myself playing"!

you bet! I feel like giving all those people a good kick when I hear that! Myself, gah! Sounds like they're still stuck in KG. Remember our first lesson, Myself? :|
